This pair of authentic antique stone lithographs are from the mid 19th century German edition of Smith’s Illustrated Astronomy. Printed on one side only. These charts, diagrams and celestial or heavenly maps show principles of planetary motion and feature other astronomical phenomena. There is also a lithograph of a telescope. The visual elements in Smith’s astronomical prints are characterized by large graphic blocks of white against black, repeating geometric forms, and linear elements, typically circles and ovals representing orbits. Great antique graphics! Dimensions: Apprx. 9.25" x 11.25".
