Painted by Wallace who taught and lectured on fine art at Orange County Community College, Middletown, NY through out the 1960-80s. Wallace's talent and output ranged from later large amazingly executed color field and abstract paintings to earlier figurative work. The haunting and moody row house tenement painting was possibly a local Middletown, NY working class neighborhood that he chose to depict in this canvas. Circa 1950.

The framing treatment consists of antiqued and shellac wood frame with white accent fillet. Good overall condition of the piece with some minor lifting or bubbling of the canvas surface from the masonite board backing. Older dark finish. No major visible paint losses. No visible rips, tears, crazing or restorations. See less
