Richard Lindner ( 1901 - 1978 ) was a German born American painter of Jewish descent. His Avant - Garde Pop Art style images used the sexual symbolism of advertising and investigated definitions of gender roles in the media. In the oeuvre he created of urban energy and eroticism of the self styled heroes and heroines of the unruly 1960's and 1970's. His unusually individual Pop Art vibrant pieces stand on their own as highly regarded creative and expressive genuinely unique artworks.
The large format Mid Century Modern rare out of print 1st edition hardcover Pop Art book measures 11 5/8" W X 10 7/8" H X 1 1/4" D, with 217 pages, featuring 187 illustrations, including 52 hand tipped lithograph print plates.
