Chinese Kangxi porcelain temple fruit pyramids in famille verte palette. Tallest measures 6 1/2". Good condition - expected chips to leaves and loss of glaze to tips of plums. Display beautifully. Each fruit is molded individually and stacked in a traditional pyramid. Provenance - Konrad Bernheimer, Munich. Each bears a collection sticker on the base - Bernheimer Munchen. Bernheimer is chairman and owner of Bernheimer Fine Old Masters in Munich, and the owner of the world's oldest commercial art gallery, Colnaghi, in London. Kangxi fruit stacks were used as fruit offerings in a home or temple altar, and also in tombs. Worshipers believed the Gods could not discern the difference between fresh fruit and porcelain facsimiles. See less
