Framed Oil Painting on Panel by Lucien Hock (1899-1972) is a splendid composition capturing the natural beauty of the "Fagne du Nesselon", a region that is today on the border between northern France and southeastern Belgium known for its varied terrain and breathtaking vistas. Here Hock invites the viewer into the scene with the use of a babbling brook meandering between the hillocks, with conifers providing a framework through which one can see the rolling hillsides in the distance under a cloudy sky. Surviving in its original painted frame, the work is signed and dated.
