This unglazed, circa 1895, terracotta architectural element features a bust of the Roman god Mercury--Greek, Hermes. A beautiful and unique decorative addition indoors or out!
Pieces such as this were used in conjunction with other terracotta elements on roofs or above doorways and windows as keystones.
Excellent, as-found condition with no cracks.
