In the project … Read more <p>Water is not only an important element in our lives but also in the world of ceramics. In the project <em>Panta Rhei</em>, water is reinterpreted as a creative force in the manufacturing process of porcelain. In a series of experiments, the various effects of water on porcelain and the process of slip casting are demonstrated. Capillary, erosion and gravitational effects on the one hand, but also the different states of the working material porcelain with the associated properties are combined in a creative way in order to develop a new design process.</p>
<p>The surface of this <em>Erosion Vase</em> was achieved through water pressure.</p>
<p>'Water has power'<br />During experiments on spray effects of water, the designer Jihye Kang came across an interesting way of exercising strength in the sense of destruction. When water pressure hits the surface of the dried porcelain, a surface change in the sense of ablation can be observed. This effect is perhaps more of a peeling effect than a destruction. This has an effective design character. Thus each object becomes unique.</p>

<p>Jihye Kang is a product designer from South Korea. She completed her master's degree in 2018 at the wei&szlig;ensee Kunsthochschule Berlin and founded her studio in Berlin. She has profound experience with material experiments and in the development of material work processes, especially in the field of glass and ceramics.
