The Taxing Art B-side table takes a playful look at tax laws governing design and art. This is a tax ambiguous object that is half industrial and half carved by hand. The industrial side mimics the ubiquitous IKEA Lack side table and the hand-carved side is designed to be as complex as possible to make by hand. These two techniques fuse together into one object, making it complicated to clearly classify. This object was first exhibited at Dilmos Gallery in Milan Italy.
Eyal Burstein is a conceptual product designer investigating social behaviour and perception. Interested in self-censorship, morality, and its effects on creativity, Burstein makes objects that probe and emphasise our life choices.
Awarded, Designer of the Future by Design Miami, his work has been exhibited at MoMa, the Design Museum in London, the V&A, and he has published a book titled Taxing Art with Gestalten.
