Designed in 1968 by Tapio Wirkkala, these bottles are made of similar formed gently curved glass (black Murano glass) decor. The activity of Tapio for Venini represents an interesting phase of his versatile career. He was deeply influenced by the Murano glass scene. When Wirkkala, in the mid-1960s, designed the first pieces for Venini, he was already a world-famous designer who had worked in various areas of design. Tapio Wirkkala was the one who exploited the 'Incalmo' technique often combined with 'mezzafiligrana' and 'murrine', thanks to the ability of the Venini Glass Masters and the rich palette of colors. His works can be found in museums all over the world. See less
