The State of preservation is very good. Sheet dimension: 28 x 37 cm. The artwork represents a scenery of important and historical place of Moulin Rouge through intense black color, skillfully depicted by quick and confident strokes. The artist masterly indicates one of the most important parts of the city in a well-balanced composition. The Moulin Rouge located in the famous red-light district of Pigalle, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, near Montmartre is one of the most famous clubs in Paris, inaugurated in 1891 by Charles Zidler and Joseph Oller. The original seat of the theater, which burned down in 1915, had been co-founded in 1889, the place became particularly famous for the presence of a red windmill on the roof of the structure, which gave its name to the place. The Moulin Rouge is universally known for being the spiritual birthplace of can-can dance. Originally introduced as a seductive dance used by the courtesans who were here to entertain customers, can-can became a real form of entertainment, from the Moulin Rouge to all the cabarets in Europe. Famous French artist Henry de Toulouse-Lautrec was a frequent visitor to the Pigalle and Montmartre districts.
