This vertical original … Read more Grigio Naturale 05 is a hypnotic abstract painting realized by the contemporary artist Li Lei in 2007. This vertical original artwork represents an abstract composition in different shades of gray. The brushwork is surprising: the artwork shows large discontinuous strokes in the background, and black spurts rising from the bottom trying to reach the higher part of the canvas, like the jet of an oilfield. Some yellow stains can be espied here and there behind the black strokes. What really makes this artist differ from any other is the naturalness with which Li Lei approaches the empty canvas, filling it by means of different and unusual tools. The artist conceived a brand-new creative process for works of art. For this reason, he is considered one of the major contemporary Chinese artists. Li Lei Li Lei was born in 1965 in Shanghai. In 1976 he attends the “People’s Fine Arts Course” and at 10 years he won already a prize in the national fine arts contest for amateurs organized by CCTV and in 1980 he entered the applied art class of Huashan Fine Arts Vocational School. His first exhibition and publication was in 1982 when the decorative paintings were included in Shanghai Fine Arts Exhibition and published in Shanghai Literature. In 1983 he entered in Shanghai Fine Arts Design Company and after some years he partecipated to Shanghai Youth Biennal and Shanghai International Art Festival in the Shanghai Art Museum. At 25 years old he partecipated to the Fifth Tai Wan International Print Art Biennal in Taipei Fine Arts Museum. From this moment started his success in the art field partecipating in a lot af exhibitions and shows and starting a new kind of oil painting. In the following years he organized and partecipated to a lot of exhibitions around the world: China, Korea, Netherlands, Germany, USA and more. In 2005 he became Executive Manager of the Shanghai Art Museum. Once held the post of Shanghai oil painting sculpture courtyard executive vice-president. In 1996 his creations are: ''Imperial sacrifices Flower'' the series, ''Recalled Chiangnan'' the series, ''Image Military yi'' the series, ''Is drunk Lake'' the series and so on. Li Lei works resides in many towns collections: China in Beijing and Shanghai; U.S.A. in New York; Germany in Frankfurt and Linz; Nederland in Amsterdam and Bork Smale; Belgium in Brussels.
