The artwork is in good conditions of preservation, the paper is slightly dirty and stained and it is glued on a darker piece of paper of larger dimensions (20.3 x 24.5 cm). The figure, seated towards right, with the elbow bent on the knee and the chin leaning on the hand, recalls a figure of Michelangelo or a Classical statue. Aimé Millet was the son of the miniaturist Frederick Millet. He studied at the École des Beaux Arts. In 1849, he started his artistic career and in 1859 he received the Légion d'Honneur. In 1870, he was nominated professor at the École des Arts Décoratifs of Paris and taught some of the most important Impressionist artists. The drawing is overall very pleasant, classic in the composition but modern in the dynamic and confident strokes. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork. See less
