It offers a drawer … Read more Solid and veneered mahogany furniture, Napoleon III period, composed of a console in the lower part. It offers a drawer in belt, opening by a notch hidden underneath. Its frontage is decorated in the center with a generous leafy decoration. Four uprights support this element. Those of the front are richly gilded and molded, and finished with two Small Ball Feet. Those of the back are straight. They are linked together by two identically sized trays, embellished on the sides and back with Cut Mahogany Galleries.
The upper part is designed in a gradient in both directions. It offers two tops of increasing size, with carved ornaments in the corners. They rest on Solid Mahogany Brackets Beautifully Carved in Volutes. On the back of the shelves, there are Openwork Mahogany Edges. The second and third are similar to those present in the lower part. The first one is more worked.
Note that all the visible edges of the shelves are Triple Moldings, and that they are Slightly Moving, thus marrying the curved line of the drawer.
The inside of the drawer is made of Mahogany, which allows us to affirm that this Property was originally a City Furniture.
One will appreciate the Numerous successful Sculptures of this Air Console, as well as its Lightness, literally and figuratively.
