In this portrait of the female nude, Tortora & Travezan find inspiration by harmoniously reconciling multiple artistic genres that never met.

One recognises the sensual feminine shapeliness of Botticelli's Venus in the slight curvature of her back, white her flaming red hair drips languorously onto her shoulders like one Pre-Raphaelite model. Even the softness of her pale female shape is reminiscent of a Renaissance nude.

All this art historical inspiration is brought together in one harmonious image that depicts one of the most sensual portions of the female nude: her back. Her pose is traditionally one of vulnerability, and yet she radiates power and energy - the confidence of the seductress, or simply of the female who knows her own body\.

Photography duo Tortora & Travezan create vibrant portraits that combine nude and still life. David Tortora and Jaime Travezan met in London in 2006, where both were pursuing creative careers.

Following their first collaboration on fashion editorials and portraiture, they soon presented their first fine art photography project, "Galatea".
