Floriculture 1 is a vibrant Lightjet Print available in an Edition of 10 in this size of 86" x 48".
From the 'Floriculture' series by Lisa Creagh, Floriculture 1 still draws on the theme of Creagh's previous project, 'The Instant Garden', which derived from an ancient Persian practice of throwing a rich, floral carpet to the ground.
The instant garden is created through Creagh's use of composite images of industrially-grown flowers. Reminiscent of a Dutch still-life painting in its masterful and careful use of light, the sense of distance and depth is gently present.
Combining the traditional handmade elements of crafts like needlework with the contemporary techniques of digital manipulation, 'Floriculture' plays with the ideas of control and stylised appearance that have featured in conversations of nature for years.
Her current ongoing project, ‘The Instant Garden’ was begun in 2008 and is inspired by Dutch Flower paintings, in particular those by Rachel Ruysch (1664 – 1750). The work has been widely exhibited and was recently awarded a development grant by The Arts Council of England.
Creagh writes, “The Instant Garden is a new kind of photograph, one ‘made’ not ‘taken’, but no less beautiful for being artificially ‘natural’." Labeled by Maker,Stamped by Maker,Numbered,This piece has an attribution mark,
