We are offering this very well rendered pastel of a Falcon, possibly a Gyrfalcon. This falcon is posed sitting on a branch, the styling is similar of the work of George Edwards and other English Ornithological studies. The painting may be after a colored plate but we can’t find the original example. Piece appears to be 19th century, possibly 18th century or in an 18th C. style.
Condition: Large tear to the paper in the upper portion of the image. Some surface wear and scratching to the pastel surface. Area of white powder or mildew between surface and the glass.
