Vintage Stonehill Teak Bookcase from the 1960s
This vintage Stonehill bookcase is an iconic piece of mid-20th-century British design. Made in the UK during the 1960s, it exemplifies the craftsmanship of the English manufacturer Stonehill Furniture, renowned for its clean Scandinavian lines and high functionality.
British Scandinavian design with versatile storage
Crafted from teak with warm tones, this living room or office piece combines several storage solutions within an airy structure:
Upper section: a compartment closed by sliding wooden doors, ideal for storing dishes, glasses, or files out of sight.
Middle section: a set of asymmetrical shelves with rounded edges, perfect for displaying books, ceramics, and collectibles.
Lower section: two drawers with round solid wood knobs and a large cabinet with two hinged doors and solid teak handles.
Base: A sled base, typical of British modernist designs, lends lightness and stability to the piece.
Careful restoration and excellent condition
This vintage Stonehill bookcase has been fully cleaned, sanded, and oiled in our workshop. This deep treatment nourishes the wood, enhances the natural grain of the teak, and ensures lasting protection.
The piece is in very good overall condition. Some more noticeable scratches remain visible on the top above the right-hand drawer. These superficial signs of wear are discreet and attest to the authenticity and history of this vintage piece, which is over sixty years old. The drawers and sliding doors operate smoothly.
