The large gilt frame has an intricately carved crest with stylized acanthus leaves surrounding a central anthemion and scallop shell, all of which showcase the sweeping C- and S-curves the rococo style is so well known for. These curves appear again in the floral vines that wrap around the sides of the frame and the acanthus leaves at the bottom corners, creating a cohesive design and adding even more expertly crafted details. The gilding has become beautifully worn over the years, and in parts of the sides and bottom of the frame, we can see the exposed red bole over which the gold leaf was applied to create a warm glow. Beaded trim is carved into the frame surrounding the large mirror plate, which has a hand cut beveled edge and is in good condition with a clear reflection and minimal signs of age. With its whimsical rococo design, this mirror is sure to make a statement in any space it enters. Gently cleaned, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
