The spacious top is assembled from three thick-cut wood slabs–one long L-shaped piece and two smaller, rectangular boards–all of which showcase richly patinated surfaces and beautiful signs of heavy wear. The wear on the smaller boards is especially unique as their tops have become wavy and uneven from years and years of continued use, as we can see from the countless nicks and scratches from blades that have built up over time. This large worksurface can also be used to store one’s knives, which can be inserted handle-up into the spaces between the blocks at the center. The pieces of the top are set within a sturdy oak frame with support from two cast iron struts underneath, ensuring the island holds up for years to come. Four thick, square legs support the top with reeded faces and stepped feet that lend art deco character to this unique piece. This island is perfect for any kitchen in need of an additional workspace, and its individual charm is sure to complement a range of design styles. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your home. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
