A fine tall French arch top wall or floor standing mirror from the Louis Philippe period, featuring a moulded frame surround with a beautiful patinated gold-leaf and faux walnut finish, a graceful arched top, and etched geometric cross hatch design around the circumference.
The walnut colored painted surface has a “faux bois” grain effect which has faded a little over the past century and a half but still remains in good original condition.
The original gilded border sits neatly to either side of the raised painted moulding, creating a pleasing contrast.
A continuous row of oversized gesso beads neatly frame the original mirror plate.
