Henri Lenoir (1939–2015)
France – 20th/21st Century
Henri Lenoir was a French painter whose vibrant canvases reflect a deep affinity with the Fauvist masters and their bold use of color and texture. Trained at the prestigious École des Arts in Paris, Lenoir developed a distinctive style that captured the sunlit charm of the French Riviera. His subjects—cityscapes, beaches, landscapes, and boat-filled harbors—convey the luminous atmosphere of Mediterranean life with both immediacy and elegance.

Throughout his career, Lenoir divided his time between Paris and the South of France, painting the coastal villages of Nice, Antibes, and Saint-Tropez. His works were regularly exhibited in France and abroad, earning him recognition among collectors.

Lenoir’s body of work spans from 1959 to 2010 and includes oil on canvas, pastel studies, and a series of delicate illustrations. His paintings, celebrated for their vitality and expressive brushwork, continue to embody the warmth, movement, and timeless beauty of the Mediterranean landscape. See less
