The earthenware body displays a broad boat-like contour with a soft median ridge circling the lower waist, balancing a short, upward-pointing spout with an arched rear shoulder. The flush-fitting cover rests securely within the circular recess and is topped with an angular, wing-shaped finial pierced beside a small steam vent. On the underside of the lid, a small oval potter's mark is impressed into the smooth clay. The flat base bears a crisp, square four-character seal mark impressed in traditional seal script, pointing to a vintage production probably from the second half of the twentieth century. Formed from unglazed purple-brown clay, the stoneware has a fine, silky matte texture with subtle natural tonal variations across the exterior. Yixing pottery of this type is valued for its porous quality, which gently absorbs tea oils over repeated infusions to season the vessel and enhance the flavour of loose-leaf brews such as oolong or pu-erh. Measuring approximately 11 cm high, 14.5 cm across from spout to handle, and 10 cm in diameter, this compact vessel combines traditional Chinese tea culture craftsmanship with modernist lines. The piece presents cleanly without visible cracks or repairs. See less
