The cast relief displays crisp foliage and tendril detailing along all four outer edges, contrasting with the smooth, curved cove moulding that steps inward to meet the base. The serving well consists of a polished timber insert with an active straight grain and a warm reddish-brown finish. This inset wooden base provides a level, durable surface suited for serving drinks or table presentation, while preventing glassware from marking or dulling the metal interior. The outer contour takes a subtle barrel-shaped rectangular form with gently curved sides and rounded corners. On the reverse, the tray reveals a plain pewter underside framing the exposed timber base. At the centre of the wood panel, the piece is marked with the official gold-toned ""v&a"" monogram positioned directly above the ""royal selangor"" maker's mark. Originating from malaysia, royal selangor is widely recognised for fine cast and hand-finished pewter tableware, and their victoria and albert museum collection draws directly upon historical decorative patterns preserved in the museum's archives. Measuring 44 cm in width by 30 cm in depth, the tray remains in sound, usable condition. The cast border retains crisp definition throughout, with light, scattered surface marks and small scuffs consistent with careful handling on both the pewter rim and the timber base. See less
