The composition rises from a heavy oval foot embellished around its border with applied glass prunts. Resting on this platform, each flanking cherub is modelled in the round with outstretched limbs, textured curls and feathered wings, framing the central stem. The entire piece is executed in clear glass richly suffused with suspended gold leaf flakes, producing a shimmering aventurine effect across every component. When illuminated, the dense golden inclusions refract the light, accentuating the contours of the figurative putti and the curved candle arms. Clear glass wafer collars separate the turned central baluster from the scrolled twin branches above. Functioning as a twin-light candelabrum with a decorative central urn-form finial, the piece features deep cup-shaped drip pans beneath each candle nozzle to catch wax. The assembly stands 42 cm tall and measures 28 cm across the widest point of the candle arms. The flat underside reveals a ground and smoothed pontil scar, fitted with circular protective pads to safeguard furniture surfaces. Originating from Venice during the mid-to-late twentieth century, the design unites classical baroque figurative elements with traditional Italian furnace work. While free of etched signatures or paper labels, the ambitious scale and precise hot-tool manipulation of the solid glass cherubs reflect the specialist sculptural techniques developed in the prominent Murano ateliers of the period.
