The bird is modelled in a compact, rounded posture, characterised by stylized, overlapping scalloped feather mouldings across the flanks and wing coverts. Beneath the textured plumage, the smooth contour of the arched neck and breast curves gently downwards into a flat, integrated oval base defined by the webbed foot pattern. The paperweight is cast from solid French lead crystal, finished predominantly in Lalique’s signature satin frost. This velvety frosted surface diffuses direct light through the thicker volumes of the glass, while highlighting the raised relief of the scalloped feathers in sharp, bright contours. The recessed areas and polished base catch changing illumination, accentuating the three-dimensional depth of the moulded bird. The base is ground flat to provide stable footing on a desk or display shelf. Engraved in fine cursive script on the base is the authentic maker’s mark, 'Lalique France', accompanied by the registered trademark symbol. The sculpture is accompanied by its original grey textured Lalique presentation box, which retains the printed barcoded label displaying reference number 90592 and code 1060000. Also included is the matching Lalique manufacturer booklet identifying the model as the 'Canard Dormeur', along with a heavy clear rectangular display block bearing the Lalique brand lettering. Measuring 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm) in height, the piece is in undamaged condition, free from chips, cracks, fleabites, or scratching. The delicate moulding across the beak, eyes, and plumage remains crisp, and the satin crystal surface maintains a consistent matte finish throughout.
