The vase is decorated with a bold, theatrical motif inspired by traditional Peking Opera. The pale pink (blush) ground is adorned with several large, high-relief (raised) opera masks (Lianpu). Each mask is vividly painted in distinct, expressive colors—including yellow, blue, red, and black—with fierce, stylized facial features. They are surrounded by scattered, stylized red flames, adding to the dramatic, energetic feel of the piece. The neck is decorated with a band of colorful, downward-pointing triangles.

The Base: The underside of the vase is particularly fascinating. Set into the center of the base is an old, silver-toned Chinese coin (featuring a vintage automobile and Chinese characters), which appears to have been embedded during the firing process or as a later addition. The surrounding foot ring is decorated with a continuous, red geometric pattern.
