The Sea Monster is an original modern artwork realized in the first half of the 20th Century by the Italian artist Riccardo Tommasi Ferroni (Pietrasanta, 1934 – Pieve di Camaiore, 2000). Original etching on paper. Numbered, edition 34/40. good conditions except for some rips on the margins. Excellent conditions. The sea monster is a beautiful engraving depicting a strange creature in a swamp. The work is characterized by a very thin and refined stroke. The monster is accompanied by a satyr that has an animal skull in his hands and looks at the monster. Riccardo Tommasi Ferroni (Pietrasanta, 1934 – Pieve di Camaiore, 2000). He was born into a family of artists: his father Leone Tommasi, studied sculpture first in Rome and then at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, as well as a sculptor was his brother, Marcello Tommasi. In Viareggio, Riccardo graduated at the University of Florence, attending at the same time the Academy of Fine Arts. He later moved to Rome. He was an exponent of the current of neo figuratives, already at the end of the fifties he was recognized by some critics as a modern painter bred at the Caravaggesque school, thanks to his tendency to refer to pictorial modules of the past, in particular the Mannerism and the Baroque. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
