Hand knotted in all natural dyed, hand-spun wool, this rug is one of a kind. Next, it spent three to six months in the sun, where natural sunlight slowly drew out its original colors. It was then overdyed in gray and hand washed, leaving quiet, tonal shades that give a traditional design a completely new, modern life. The lighter panels took the dye brightly and the darker ground took it deeply, which is what makes the grid stand out so clearly. You may notice lighter and deeper areas of gray across the surface. That layered, uneven color is the signature of an overdyed rug, and together with the hand-tied knots it gives the rug its own personality. The wool pile is dense and soft underfoot, and it stands up well to daily use in busy rooms.
