Hand knotted and one of a kind, this wool rug is made from durable, hand-spun wool. It is a vintage rug that has never been used. To give it the look of an antique, the pile was rubbed down by hand with lava stone, again and again, until it was low and gently worn. That is where the name Lavastone comes from, and it is why the gold field and the tan border look softened, with green and light brown in the details. You may notice an abrash in the gold field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. Together with the artisan-tied knots and the small irregularities of handmade work, it gives the rug its own personality. The softened outlines of the flowers and vines are part of the look.
