The gold decoration is old, though possibly retouched over the years, and depicts various possessions - bronzes, books and vases - designed to show off the high rank and status of the owner. The old red lacquer has a crackled, worn look that is full of character, though resealed and refreshed with a new shiny varnish. There is a single removable shelf inside and a removable board over the bottom section, the cabinet would be perfect for storage in a living room or bedroom, or would make a great drinks cabinet.
