The tall, gently angled back features a shaped crest rail above a simple central splat, creating an elegant and understated silhouette. The plank seat rests on straight legs joined by traditional stretchers, reflecting the restrained craftsmanship and practical construction of Chinese country furniture. Generations of use have softened the elm to a pale, naturally weathered finish with visible grain, worn edges, and subtle irregularities.

The chair’s simple form and sculptural profile make it equally appealing as functional seating or as a decorative accent. Use it at a writing table, in an entryway or bedroom, or as a standalone object in a quiet corner. Its beautifully aged elm and clean lines work naturally in Santa Fe, wabi-sabi, farmhouse, mountain modern, minimalist, or contemporary interiors.
