It has an open shelf section above with a carved frame and a storage section below. Originally only the central doors would have been fitted, giving access to the full space inside, a design to deter would-be thieves from reaching the outer parts of the interior. Two extra doors have been added more recently using the old fixed panels, and fitted with simple brass handles.

It still has its old hardware, black lacquer and beautiful paintings of flowers and butterflies and it is rare now to find cabinets like this is such excellent, and original condition.
