The leaping koi form rises in a full C-curve, its tail looping back into a closed ring, while the open mouth at the top forms the vase mouth for ikebana flower arranging. Every scale is cast in relief, and the coppery bronze surface shades to dark brown, with green oxidation settled into the scales, giving the piece a rich aged patina. Koi symbolize perseverance and good fortune — in legend, the koi that climbs the waterfall becomes a dragon — making this vase a fitting choice for ikebana or tokonoma display. The base is signed illegibly. Dimensions: 10.5 inches tall x 6 inches wide x 3.5 inches deep. See less
