This magnificent example of Chinese Art Deco weaving captures the transitional aesthetic of the period. Its generous scale makes it a true room size centerpiece, woven from luxurious, hand-knotted wool that retains a remarkable depth of pile, characteristic of the finest early 20th-century production.

The primary field is saturated in a rich, velvety wine hue, providing a dramatic backdrop for the stylized ornamentation. While the ground is deep maroon, the title refers to the vibrant accents of coral, which define the overall coral color palette when viewed in totality. This bold use of color contrast and high-sheen wool is a hallmark of sophisticated Art Deco design from China.

The composition employs an open field, allowing the deep ground color to dominate, a design strategy favored by the Art Deco movement. Delicate, sweeping branches and traditional urns anchor the corners, while the central axis features an elegant, asymmetrical spray of blossoms. These sophisticated floral motifs are rendered in soft pastels—lavender, teal, and pale yellow—offering a subtle, painterly counterpoint to the intensity of the field.

As a testament to the exceptional quality of early 20th-century Chinese craftsmanship, this piece represents a highly sought-after category for collectors. Its excellent condition and striking visual presence ensure its status among premier antique rugs available today, offering both historical value and timeless decorative appeal for contemporary interiors.
