An antique Vietnamese glazed ceramic garden pedestal, dating to circa 1900 and distinguished by its sculptural profile and richly varied green glaze. The hollow ceramic body rises from a broad circular foot through a gently tapered and vertically ribbed lower section to a rounded central register, before narrowing and flaring outward again toward the top.
The predominantly green glaze is enlivened by irregular dark brown to nearly black vertical areas and natural variations created during firing and through age. The upper surface introduces additional blue and muted earth tones arranged in concentric bands, providing an attractive contrast with the green body. A group of pierced openings at the center of the top adds another decorative and functional element.
The pedestal has a strong architectural presence despite its compact dimensions and would work well as a plant stand, garden pedestal, or sculptural decorative object. Its aged surface, uneven glaze, firing variations and areas of wear give it considerable character.
The unglazed underside reveals the hollow ceramic construction and shows additional wear associated with age and use.
