Measuring 80 inches in length, the table features a broad rectangular mahogany top with a molded edge and subtly projecting corners. The clean expanse of the dark mahogany top provides an elegant counterpoint to the highly decorative base below.

The apron is particularly handsome, with a continuous band of small gilt floral motifs set against the dark wood, followed by a narrow red and gilt carved border. Beneath it, a scalloped frieze is ornamented with repeating carved floral forms picked out in warm gilt and red tones. Faceted corner blocks give way to four slender fluted legs, each accented with turned elements and gilt bands before terminating in tapered feet.

The table has a wonderful balance between architectural Neoclassical form and exuberant hand-carved decoration. Its substantial 80-by-40-inch surface makes it particularly effective as a center or display table in a large entrance hall, gallery, library, or living room, where it can be appreciated from all sides. The table is fitted with a custom mahogany top.
