A matched pair of Chinese cloisonné enamel vases in the millefleur pattern — peonies, chrysanthemums, and lotus blossoms worked in … Read more A matched pair of Chinese cloisonné enamel vases in the millefleur pattern — peonies, chrysanthemums, and lotus blossoms worked in fine wire and enamel in pink, lavender, and plum on a pale blush ground, with turquoise accents and a ruyi-head band at the neck. Cloisonné is made by bending thin metal wires into cells on a brass body, filling each cell with colored enamel paste, and firing it; the millefleur design — 'ten thousand flowers' — covers nearly the whole surface with blossoms. Gilt rims and turquoise enamel bases. Each vase measures 5 inches high and 3.5 inches across. Unmarked; Chinese, mid 20th century. Excellent condition.
