This is a Fostoria Glass Designer Collection / Interpretations Group "J" off hand OOAK vase in "Purple". The neodymium/alexandrite vase was created in 1977, and these are very hard to find.
James Carpenter was furloughed from Steuben for a year starting in 1977 to create, without the use of moulds, the 28 pieces in 4 groups that were shown in the collection. The line proved very expensive to create and came with a price tag that was uncommonly high for Fostoria. As a consequence, fewer than 1200 pieces were created in total before the line was cut from production in 1978.
