Charming set of four Vintage hand-blown, hand painted mercury glass Christmas ornaments, expertly crafted in West Germany by Witting KG during the late 1960s to mid-1970s. Each ornament features a stunning vibrant crimson red and a blue stripe framed by hand-painted, crisp white frosted glitter details.
A fascinating detail for history buffs and collectors alike: the original box retains its authentic military retail price tag from AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service), indicating this set was originally purchased tax-free at an overseas American military base exchange during the Cold War. Preserved in their original purple presentation box featuring traditional German winter iconography, these ornaments offer a wonderful mix of European artisan craft and nostalgic mid-century history.
