An elegant Japanese cloisonne enamel vase by Rōgetsu, featuring stylized phoenix decoration against a luminous celadon green ground. Measuring approximately 7.87 inches tall and 9.45 inches wide, the vase has a broad, rounded body balanced by a short, gently flared neck and a raised circular foot. Silver mounts frame the mouth and base, complementing the soft green enamel.

The decoration extends across the shoulders in a rhythmic arrangement of phoenixes among pale, scrolling cloud forms. Rendered in graduated shades of turquoise and blue green, the birds display sweeping wings, elaborate crests, and long, flowing tail feathers. Fine wire outlines articulate their silhouettes and plumage, while subtle tonal transitions lend depth to the restrained palette.

The placement of the decoration emphasizes the generous curvature of the body. Below the phoenixes, an expansive area of uninterrupted celadon enamel brings visual calm to the composition, allowing the sculptural form and lustrous surface to take prominence.
