Hand knotted and one of a kind, this wool rug is made from hand-spun, natural vegetable dyed wool, a blend of merino, New Zealand, and Ghazni wool. The aubergine of the field and the beige of the border come from vegetable dyes extracted from local plants, and purple and rust pick out the smaller motifs. You may notice an abrash in the aubergine field, a soft shift in shade within a single color. It comes from hand-spun wool taking natural dye slightly differently from batch to batch, and it is one of the signs of a true handmade rug. Fine hand knotting keeps the small trellis even across the whole field. The pile is trimmed to a moderate thickness, then stone-washed and sun-dried for a natural sheen across the full 9'0'' x 12'0''.
