Crafted in opaline glass, each vase features a beautiful light green exterior contrasting with a milky white interior, creating a soft, luminous effect characteristic of mid-century Portuguese glassware.

The elegant bottle-shaped silhouette is particularly appealing: generously proportioned at the base, the form gradually narrows into a tall, slender neck, giving the pair a sculptural and sophisticated presence. Their restrained Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic makes them especially versatile, equally suited to a mid-century modern, Scandinavian, minimalist or contemporary interior.

Marinha Grande holds a unique place in the history of Portuguese glassmaking. The region became the centre of Portugal's glass industry from the 18th century, benefiting from its abundant silica-rich sand and the pine forests of the surrounding region. The Royal Glassworks of Marinha Grande, re-established by William Stephens in 1769, helped establish a long tradition of craftsmanship that continues to define the town's identity as Portugal's “glass capital.”

This pair is preserved in original vintage condition, with no chips or cracks, just small production marks/bubbles on the glass. A beautiful example of 1960s Portuguese opaline glass, combining local craftsmanship with the timeless elegance of Scandinavian-inspired design.
