The artist uses a vibrant and textured painting technique, characterized by rapid, colorful brushstrokes that build the face, the red wig, and the sumptuous yellow and floral collar. The contrast between the dark background and the subject's bright hues highlights the subject's emotionality and fragility. Although the "Silvio" signature is not unique, the subject and style could be traced back to the work of Silvio Smersy (1933-2001). Smersy is known for having had a career as a footballer (he played for Inter's youth teams and in Serie B and C, not as a former Inter player in the first team, but as a former Inter youth player and then as a striker for teams such as Pro Patria and Como) before turning to painting, specializing in clown portraits, often dating to the 1980s. His artistic production is part of a sensitive and popular movement. The painting, with its black and gold graduated frame, is a piece of modern figurative art that adds a strong emotional focal point to any environment.
