Dimensions: approx. 80 × 80 × 70 cm (width × depth × height) with two 32 cm extension leaves – extends to approx. 112 cm and 144 cm respectively
Compact, extendable teak dining table, made in the 1960s by Hundevad & Co. in Denmark. At only 80 × 80 cm, it fits into small rooms and dining nooks. The two extension leaves hidden beneath the tabletop transform it into a 144 cm long table for six people in just a few simple steps.
Hundevad & Co. was founded by the master cabinetmaker Poul Hundevad and specialized in high-quality teak furniture. In addition to its own designs, the workshop produced furniture by designers such as Kaj Winding, Carlo Jensen, and Harald Plum. The design of this table is attributed to Poul Hundevad himself.
What makes this table special is its delicately taut form: The tabletop is slightly wider in the middle on each side than at the corners, giving it a subtle boat-like shape – a delicate detail that lends the small table both interest and elegance. The frame follows this design with a gentle curve at the bottom edge. Solid teak edging frames the tabletop, and the round, solid teak legs taper towards the bottom. The two extension leaves are stored invisibly beneath the tabletop and can be easily pulled out using slim handles.
The teak displays a vibrant, striped grain and a warm, golden-brown hue.
Condition: Very good vintage condition – stable and fully functional, the extensions glide smoothly. A compact Danish dining table with a grand presence for sophisticated interiors. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
