The tables are made from polished mahogany, presenting a deep reddish-brown tone with a lustrous finish that accentuates the wood’s fine, linear grain. The warm character of the mahogany is complemented by brass hardware, including small, finely detailed handles affixed to each drawer. Each table features a single drawer situated beneath a raised shelf structure, providing a tiered surface configuration that is both functional and visually articulated. The raised shelf is supported by vertical extensions from the rear legs, giving the upper platform a slight elevation and a sense of architectural separation from the main tabletop. This layered arrangement reflects the attention to detail and compositional balance typical of rosén’s work. The legs are subtly tapered and connected by horizontal stretchers that provide both structural reinforcement and visual grounding. The drawer fronts are framed neatly within the carcass, and the brass pulls display a gentle patina consistent with age, enhancing the vintage integrity of the pieces. Condition is very good vintage, with only minimal signs of wear. The mahogany surfaces retain their original finish with minor signs of use, and all components remain stable and well-joined. The brass details are intact, and their aged appearance adds to the overall character of the tables. David rosén, active in the mid-20th century, was known for his refined sense of proportion and practical design language. He frequently collaborated with nordiska kompaniet (nk), one of sweden’s most prestigious manufacturers of modern furniture. Nk was recognized for its use of high-quality materials and expert joinery, and this pair of tables is a testament to that legacy.
