A fabulous example of playful Postmodern design, this cylindrical ceramic umbrella stand features a whimsical, wraparound motif of colorful folded umbrellas. The bold graphic lines, vibrant palette, and cheekily irreverent treatment of an everyday object evoke the visual language of Piero Fornasetti and the exuberant spirit of 1980s Italian Postmodern design. The umbrella decoration appears to be hand-painted. Both functional and decorative, this distinctive piece makes a wonderful statement in an entryway, foyer, or eclectic interior.
