Stunning vintage Neoclassical Bouillotte table lamp from the celebrated Chicago lighting atelier, Frederick Cooper.
Beautifully executed in the French Empire / Directoire revival style, this substantial 32-inch table fixture displays exceptional architectural proportions, a heavily weighted brass tri-pod base, and a finely detailed black column accented with hand-painted gold foliate flourishes
A unique and highly practical feature of this specific model is its specialized dual-socket lighting cluster hidden discretely up underneath the shade rim. While the lower tier displays three decorative faux-candle sleeves for a traditional appearance, the actual illumination comes from two standard-size (E26) medium base sockets equipped with individual brass pull-chain switches. This allows for significantly brighter light output and easy compatibility with standard LED bulbs
It comes complete with its beautiful, highly distinctive original 20-inch black fabric shade featuring an open diamond-patterned exterior overlay weave, an intact bright white interior lining to beautifully reflect down-light, and finished with delicate gold braid trim
Authenticity is verified by the original woven "Frederick Cooper" cloth maker label safely sewn inside the upper interior rim of the lampshade
Dimensions:
• Overall Height: 32 inches (from base to top of finial)
• Shade Diameter: 20 inches (across the bottom rim)
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The heavy brass base shows a beautiful, deep aged patina with minimal surface wear. The hand-painted black central column has no scratches, scuffs, or paint loss. The faux candle sleeves are intact and serve a decorative purpose. The functional upper dual-socket cluster and pull chains are fully tested and operational. The original diamond-pattern fabric shade has no staining or tears.
