This is an elegant and finely detailed vintage bronze sculpture of a resting deer. The figure is captured in a graceful, reclining pose with its legs tucked beneath its body and its head turned slightly to the side, featuring large, branching antlers.
The surface is rich with a dark, aged bronze patina and accented with intricate gold inlay (or gilded detailing) featuring stylized floral motifs and scrollwork across its body, haunches, and antlers. The deer shows signs of verdigris (blue-green oxidation), adding to its antique character and aesthetic. In Chinese culture, the deer is a powerful symbol of longevity, prosperity, and grace, making this piece a meaningful and beautiful addition to a desk, bookshelf, or collection of Asian art.
