The composition depicts an idyllic pastoral fishing scene, with figures gathered beside the water in a romantic landscape. The engraving is attributed in its printed inscriptions to Jacques-Philippe Le Bas.

The elongated frame features richly modeled floral ornamentation, scrolling foliage, and an elaborate central crest, all finished in warm, aged gilding. Below the engraving, a narrow rectangular mirror creates a distinctive architectural composition. The contrast between the elaborate carving and restrained proportions gives the piece a particularly refined presence.

At 55.5 inches tall and just 15.5 inches wide, this mirror is beautifully suited to a French country entryway, an intimate powder room, a bedroom, or a narrow wall between architectural openings. It would be equally compelling incorporated into an English country house interior, surrounded by antique paintings, collected furniture, and richly layered textiles.
