This exceptional Art Deco creation captures the bold aesthetic shift of the early 20th century, presenting a dramatic field of deep purple wool framed by a striking, luminous gold border. Such pieces represent a pinnacle of early modern antique rugs production, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design sensibilities.

The central field is saturated in a rich, velvety pile, displaying the distinctive shade of purple that became highly fashionable during the Art Deco era. This hue provides a luxurious, almost theatrical backdrop for the scattered botanical elements. The juxtaposition of the vibrant field and the golden frame creates an immediate, unforgettable visual tension, characteristic of the era's desire for high contrast.

Stylized floral and vine motifs, rendered in soft blues, pinks, and olives, gracefully trail across the expansive field. These naturalistic elements, characteristic of fine Chinese weaving, are intentionally sparse, allowing the depth and texture of the main color to dominate the composition. The design avoids traditional central medallions, favoring an open, asymmetrical arrangement that feels distinctly modern.

Woven with a substantial pile, this piece offers both visual opulence and enduring quality. Its grand dimensions make it an ideal choice for defining large living spaces, serving as a magnificent example of room size rugs from the period. This rug is not merely a floor covering, but a singular statement of historical design and sophisticated color mastery. See less
